August 8, 2005--DeHeng Chen Chan, LLC (“DCC”) received a favorable opinion from the federal district court in Delaware on behalf of its client China Three Gorges Project Corporation (“Three Gorges”). DCC filed the present case with the Delaware court back in December 2004 to confirm an arbitration award Three Gorges had won before China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (“CIETAC”). In March 2005, DCC filed a second round of pleadings with the court in response to the respondent’s motion to dismiss the petition by Three Gorges. On August 2, 2005, the court accepted DCC’s arguments without reservation and ordered the respondent to pay Three Gorges more than 2.5 million dollars. This represents another major victory DCC has secured in confirming foreign arbitration awards.
